Kawartha Farm Fresh and Agri-Tourism Directory
Kawartha Farm Fresh was created to support farmers, market gardeners, related agricultural producers, and rural businesses. Kawartha Farm Fresh promotes buying local and buying fresh.
Explore our comprehensive listing of Kawartha Lakes producers and small food processors who market their products directly to the consumer. These products include berries, vegetables, herbs, maple syrup, baked goods, honey, dairy and meat, plants, pumpkins, and more. Non-food products such as alpaca duvets, hand cream, soaps, pet treats, wool clothing is also available. The products are available directly from the farm, at farmers’ markets or at retail outlets.
By buying your fruits, vegetables, meats
and other products from local producers or at Farmers’ Markets you are supporting local agriculture. That means you are also getting the very freshest products, as the trip from the field to the table is shorter. While driving through Kawartha Lakes, look for the Kawartha Farm Fresh road signs featuring our Rooster logo. This sign identifies farm locations.
This website lists the operations alphabetically by farm name, location or by product. A listing of Farmers’ Markets is also included. The availability chart indicates approximate times when products are available in Kawartha Lakes.
Read each listing carefully to learn about individual operations. Visit our Farm Profile section to learn more about our farms and their operators. Customers are advised to call before traveling to any location to ensure product availability.
In addition to fresh quality products, many locations have special events, festivals, animals on display, tours and lessons, and other special attractions as described in the Agri-Tourism section of the website. Each autumn, many of our farms open their doors to welcome visitors during Kawartha Farmfest. This two day self guided driving tour takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving and features local farms and local food while inviting visitors to Celebrate the Harvest with our farm families.
Kawartha Farm Fresh was initiated in 2003 by the City of Kawartha Lakes with funding and support from Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, the Victoria Haliburton Federation of Agriculture and many of the local producers involved in the program. The City of Kawartha Lakes is rich in agricultural history as well diversity in today's agricultural market.
